Flying Blue

Air France

SkyTeam

Flying Blue is the loyalty programme of Air France and KLM, also used by Transavia, Kenya Airways, TAROM and Aircalin. It has two currencies: Miles, which you spend on reward flights and upgrades, and Experience Points (XP), which decide your status tier. Visit the official site to join, check your balance, or redeem miles.

How you earn Miles on Air France and KLM

On flights marketed by Air France or KLM, Miles are based on what you pay, not how far you fly. The amount counts the fare and carrier charges plus paid options such as seats and extra bags, but not taxes.

  • Explorer: 4 Miles per euro
  • Silver: 6 Miles per euro
  • Gold: 7 Miles per euro
  • Platinum: 8 Miles per euro
  • Ultimate: 9 Miles per euro

Status tiers and XP

Status is earned with XP over a 12-month qualification period that starts when you first earn XP. Each tier has its own target, and reaching it uses up those XP.

  • Explorer: the starting tier for every member
  • Silver: 100 XP
  • Gold: 180 XP
  • Platinum: 300 XP
  • Ultimate: 900 Ultimate XP, earned on Air France and KLM flights while Platinum

How long Miles last

Miles stay valid for two years, and taking an eligible flight with Air France, KLM or a partner airline extends them all by another two years.

Spending Miles

Miles can pay for reward tickets, upgrades, or part of a fare with Cash and Miles. Reward prices vary by date and demand, and monthly Promo Rewards discount selected routes.
